Uncomplicate B.E.S.T. Math

with

the Math Roadmaps

Every math benchmark scaffolded to mastery, built on cognitive science principles, and designed to uncomplicate teaching and learning of Florida's B.E.S.T. Math Standards.

Math Roadmaps are physical, spiral-bound resources made for Florida math teachers, coaches, and leaders. Each book lays out the B.E.S.T. Mathematics Standards in a way that helps teach and lead with clarity, purpose, and flow.

The Purpose

The purpose of the Uncomplicate Ed Math Roadmaps is to translate the B.E.S.T. Standards into focused, teachable pathways that drive meaningful learning for every student.

What They Are ✓

What They Are Not 🚫

  • A planning tool

  • Break down Florida’s B.E.S.T. Math Standards into clear, teachable skills

  • Clarify the learning path using the M.O.S.T. framework (Major, Ongoing, Stepping Stone, Targeted)

  • Help teachers plan smarter, from whole-group lessons to interventions

  • Support true student understanding with skill-based progressions and checkpoints

  • A daily scripted curriculum

  • Adapted from other standards and attempted to be mapped to B.E.S.T.

  • A worksheet packet or one-size-fits-all pacing guide

  • A substitute for professional expertise or classroom insight

Three Key Features of the Math Roadmaps

The Math Roadmaps have a lot to offer. Here are what district leaders, principals, and teachers are loving the most so far about the Math Roadmaps.

The MOST Framework

The Phase Pages

The Anchor Charts

What is the MOST framework?

The MOST Framework is the heart and soul of the Math Roadmaps. It helps educators know which benchmarks require all year learning, which are quick hits, which are foundational, and which are ongoing. The MOST framework is a favorite of school administrators and teachers. It is a gamechanger in teaching and learning mathmatics.

Every benchmark has been identified according to our MOST framework,

making planning abundantly easier for teachers and leaders.

What is a Phase Page?

The Phase Pages breakdown each benchmark into learning phases informed by their MOST designation, and guide educators through the full learning journey of a B.E.S.T. mathematics standard.

Each phase page lays out a clear instructional path that builds toward mastery of the benchmark and the broader standard- and strand-level expectations for the grade. Phase pages inlcude:

  • Prerequisites (Pre-Phase): The knowledge and skills students need before instruction begins on the benchmark.

  • Learning Phases: What students demonstrate in the Beginning, Middle, and Mastery phases of learning.

  • CRA Indicators: Each skill is tagged Concrete (C), Representational (R), and/or Abstract (A) to signal the appropriate level(s) for the grade and phase.

  • Teacher Tips

  • Clarifications and Examples

  • Vocabulary

  • Material

  • Vertical Notes: A concise narrative of prior, current, and next learning so teachers don’t need to cross-reference other grade-level codes.

  • MTRs

  • Connecting Benchmarks: Math benchmarks that stack or connect with the focus benchmark; where helpful, related ELA, Social Studies, and Science standards are noted to support cross-curricular planning.

What are the Anchor Charts?

The student anchor charts were created for an easy visual for students to own their learning. With the student charts, students can move towards increased student ownership of their learning and understanding.

Each benchmark has an accompanying student anchor chart that is printed in the book and provided as digital and print access. Feature of the anchor charts include:

  • B.E.S.T. Benchmarks broken down into student-friendly language.

  • Italicized and underlined keywords to draw students' attention.

  • Digital and print access for easy project on classroom screens or for student journals.

  • Sentence frames and sample exemplar responses help students know how to frame their answers.

  • Student-friendly and diverse characters help students see themselves in their math.
